Non-Magneto-Optic Waveguide Isolator
We report on a novel technique to realize a waveguide optical isolator without using conventional magneto-optical materials and external magnets. The simulations are repeatedly performed using Beam Propagation Method (BPM) to confirm the accuracy. The simulation results show that the forward and backward propagations reach 2.54 and 15.68 dB, respectively.
متن کاملMonolithically integrated InP-based modelocked ring laser systems
In this paper we report on the progress in the development of modelocked ring lasers that are integrated on a single chip in the InP/InGaAsP material system. With the current optical integration technology it is possible to integrate quantum well optical amplifiers, phase modulators and passive optical components such as waveguides, splitters and spectral filters as standardized building blocks...
متن کاملMonolithic Integration of Semiconductor Waveguide Optical Isolators with Distributed Feedback Laser Diodes
Monolithically InP-based photonic integrated circuits, where more than two semiconductor optoelectronic devices are integrated in a single InP substrate, have long history of research and development. Representatives of these InP-based photonic integrated circuits are, electroabsorption modulator integrated distributed feedback laser diodes (DFB LDs) (Kawamura et al., 1987, H. Soda et al., 1990...
متن کاملExperimental Verification of a Novel Integrated Optical Isolator Concept
The experimental demonstration of a novel integrated optical isolator concept is presented. By using a transversely magnetized ferromagnetic metal as the electric contact of an active waveguide structure, the transverse magneto-optic Kerr effect induces nonreciprocal loss of the TM guided mode. Based on this principle we designed, fabricated and characterized the first version of an optical iso...
متن کاملTM-mode AlGaInAs/InP Amplifying Waveguide Optical Isolator with 12.7dB Isolation
We present the development of a monolithically integratable optical isolator. The device is a semiconductor optical amplifier with magnetized ferromagnetic metal contact. 12.7dB isolation and optical transparency are demonstrated. The spectral dependence is studied. ©2005 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (230.3240) Isolators; (250.5980) Semiconductor optical amplifiers; (230.3810) Magneto...
